I am directed by Mr. Secretary

Long to acknowledge the receipt of your

note, No.64023/J, of the 30th March,

regarding certain goods ex the German

steanship "Bayern", and to request you to

lay before Mr. Secretary Balfour the

accompanying copy of an Ordinance of the

Legislature of Hong Kong for the

incorporation of the Hong Kong and

Shanghai Banking Corporation. Mr. Long

presumes that this will be sufficient for

the purposes required.
